| Coach's Bio |
| Matt Alison recently completed his 6th season as an assistant coach at
MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. The past two seasons,
Alison has coordinated the Pioneer defense, instructed catchers and
infielders, and assisted with hitters and baserunners. In two years as
the primary defensive coach, the Pioneer fielding percentage improved
from .938 to .950, while the number of double plays jumped from 31 to a
conference-leading 41. Catchers also showed tremendous improvement, as
the number of passed balls was reduced from 8 to 4, while the percentage
of runners caught stealing increased from 30% to 42%. Prior to that,
Alison coached hitters and outfielders. In 2007, Alison directed a
Pioneer lineup that hit a school record .335, leading the Heart of
America Athletic Conference and ranking in the top 25 nationally.
Additionally, the Pioneers slugged .527 and hit 44 HR in just 39 games,
placing them at the top of the conference and in the top 10 nationally
in both categories.
In the fall of 2008, Alison completed his Master's of Arts in
Organizational Administration, with an emphasis in leadership. |
